A NEW PROJECT TO TELL ABOUT
2022 marked a turning point in the history of the Foundation, which decided to transfer its archives, the premises that house them, and Villa Nave free of charge to the Politecnico di Milano, so that it can continue to pursue Renzo Piano‘s architectural ideal and the Foundation’s functions.
In these years of working together, the Foundation and the Politecnico are getting to know each other and learning to work together, building a shared path forward.
This is a new, unprecedented, and undoubtedly complex challenge, one that we will continue to work on in order to build our future.
THE LABORATORY OF THE ART OF BUILDING
With the agreements signed in 2022, a study program called “Laboratory of the Art of Building” was established for a duration of at least five academic years.
The aim of the course is to bring out the critical creativity of students, encouraging them to examine some of the projects carried out by Renzo Piano and his studio, looking for possible errors, improvements and changes to be made, reflecting on the changes in society, environmental sustainability, culture and technology that have taken place during the architect’s sixty years of professional experience.
Renzo Piano makes himself available to the students, recounting his experience and giving space to partners and other protagonists of what he himself calls “boundary crossings”: meetings with personalities from the worlds of culture, science, politics, civil society, and entrepreneurship in order to convey the need to be open to new influences, to broaden one’s horizons, and to always listen, in order to practice the profession of architecture with curiosity and responsibility, discovering the beauty of the art of building understood as a continuous balance between technique, ethics, and poetics.
