RENZO PIANO WORLD TOUR

It’s a poetic way of expressing it, but it’s true that travel involves discovery, the unexpected; you look for one thing and find another. Travel is a bit like going to a large library to look for a book: it’s true that you’re looking for that book, but while looking for that book you find many others.

Since 2017, the Renzo Piano Foundation has been awarding the Renzo Piano World Tour Award to degree theses that stand out for their design approach to the theme of “The Art of Building: The Importance of Structural Details.”

The winners embark on a 40-day trip around the world to discover the architecture of the Renzo Piano Building Workshop and other famous architectural works.

Following an extraordinary first edition, organized in collaboration with HABITAT2020 and ProViaggiArchitettura, the Foundation decided to make the award one of its cornerstones, involving other important Italian and European institutions and universities.
The number of participants and entities involved is determined each year, as are the stops on the tour, which are proposed based on specific educational and study objectives, making it an opportunity for apprenticeship and training.
